Our thoughts
Punda Maria surprised us completely. We expected a basic northern outpost and found one of the most charming rest camps in Kruger. The waterhole is extraordinary, sitting there at sunrise with a coffee watching the parade of wildlife arrive is one of our favourite Kruger memories.

Overview
Punda Maria Rest Camp sits in the far northern corner of Kruger National Park, in a region of sandveld vegetation that is quite different from the rest of the park. This unique habitat supports rare plant and animal species not found elsewhere in Kruger, making Punda Maria a favourite among birders and experienced bush travellers. The camp itself has a wonderfully tranquil, old-world atmosphere, small, intimate, and refreshingly uncrowded. The famous Punda Maria waterhole just outside camp attracts a constant stream of wildlife, and the birding is considered among the best in all of southern Africa.
